JL;DR SUMMARY Calgary's mayor, Jyoti Gondek, chose to boycott the city's Hanukkah menorah lighting ceremony because the organizers wanted it to be a stronger show of support for Israel, which included various requests such as showing support for Israeli hostages held by Hamas and staging a pro-Israel demonstration. A way out west there was a fella, fella I want to tell you about, fella by the name of Jeff Lebowski. At least, that was the handle his lovin' parents gave him, but he never had much use for it himself. This Lebowski, he called himself the Dude.
