JL;DR SUMMARY Professor Shaul Magid asserts in his book, "Meir Kahane: The Public Life and Political Thought of an American Jewish Radical," that Rabbi Meir Kahane, known for his far-right views in Israel, was actually a quintessential American Jew despite his prominence in Israel. A way out west there was a fella, fella I want to tell you about, fella by the name of Jeff Lebowski. At least, that was the handle his lovin' parents gave him, but he never had much use for it himself. This Lebowski, he called himself the Dude.
