JL;DR SUMMARY In 1919, Zionist leader Chaim Weizmann met with Emir Faisal, a key figure in the Arab revolt against the Ottoman Empire, leading to an agreement where Arabs accepted the Balfour Declaration in exchange for Zionist support for an Arab state in Ottoman lands.
