JL;DR SUMMARY Talya Fishman's book, "Becoming the People of the Talmud: Oral Torah as Written Tradition in Medieval Jewish Culture," challenges traditional views on the adoption of the Talmud as the central religious text of Judaism. A way out west there was a fella, fella I want to tell you about, fella by the name of Jeff Lebowski.
