JL;DR SUMMARY Rav Moshe Hillel Hirsch, a prominent Charedi leader in Israel, has made a significant departure from past ultra-Orthodox stances by endorsing the drafting of Charedim who are not engaged in full-time religious study into the Israeli military. A way out west there was a fella, fella I want to tell you about, fella by the name of Jeff Lebowski.
